The Archetype of Gemini

Gemini’s glyph is the twins, representing the multidimensionality of perspective. There are two sides (or more) to every tale. Gemini the storyteller is capable of tapping in to those perspectives. This ability to see both sides makes Gemini an apt teacher. 

An air sign, Gemini is ruled by the planet Mercury, the divine messenger. Mercury is “the voice”, the communicator, and the mind.  Gemini reminds us to use our voice. Mastering Gemini means knowing when to listen, and knowing when to speak up - both are vital in the human experience. Tapping into the discernment of this balance is the gift of Gemini. 

Practically speaking, Geminis can be social with a deep appreciation for the back and forth of communication and a love of information. The child-like enthusiasm spreads the spirit of the inner child. While spiritual connection with the Gemini archetype taps into Mercury’s divine messenger. We’re reminded to develop a relationship and conversation, often with the higher self. Gemini is a brilliant communicator, and as such, is invited to slow, hear, listen to the divine message. Allowing the messages beyond the mind to come through is the natural progression of spiritual communication. Breathwork and meditation, mantras and journaling, all practices that connect with the divine mind are useful tools when working with the element of air.

Yogananda speaks of the power of the voice in “Autobiography of a Yogi”:   “I understood later that the explosive vibratory power in speech could be wisely directed to free one’s life from difficulties and thus operate without scar or rebuke. [] *Any word spoken with clear realization and deep concentration has a materializing value. Loud or silent repetition of inspiriting words has been found effective in Coueism and similar systems of psychotherapy; the secret lies in stepping-up of the mind’s vibratory rate.”
